For months, there have been rumors about a women’s match headlining a future WrestleMania. Ronda Rousey is the company’s biggest mainstream star so it might be a good idea to have her headline next year’s show. The obvious match is Rousey vs. Charlotte Flair but that match is not 100 percent locked in. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Rousey vs. Flair is an idea on the board but they have a number of other ideas they are considering.
A couple of years ago, Ric Flair was interviewed here on WrestlingNews.co and he was the first to pitch the idea of a Charlotte Flair vs. Ronda Rousey match and this was before there was any talk of signing Rousey to a WWE deal.
This past weekend, Charlotte Flair said the following when she was asked about facing Rousey: “I want to face her, that has crossed my mind.” She added, “When I think of WrestleMania and headlining, I think of the biggest stories, the biggest stars. I just know in order to be in the main event picture, it would take the right storyline.”
Flair also called out Rousey for a WrestleMania match when she appeared on ESPN’s “Get Up” morning show last week.
