Good news on Toni Storm’s injury

Please note that this post contains spoilers from the Mae Young Classic and the NXT UK TV tapings.

As we noted on Sunday, Storm wrestled Rhea Ripley in the finals to crown the first-ever NXT UK Women’s Champion. We were told that the match ended abruptly and the referee held up the “X” sign to let trainers know that Storm was hurt.

There was some concern that the injury could force WWE to change plans for her because she is scheduled to face Io Shirai at the Evolution pay-per-view in the finals of the Mae Young Classic. Meltzer noted that she suffered a spine injury and while she still needs to be evaluated, officials do not think that the injury is too serious.

PROGRESS and wXw announced yesterday that Storm would not be at their weekend shows because of the injury. At this point, it’s still looking like she will be ok to face Shirai on October 28 at the Evolution pay-per-view.
