Top WWE NXT star was supposed to debut this week, big plans for him at WrestleMania

Most people assumed that Vince McMahon would have big plans for Lars Sullivan on the main roster. Those of you that assumed that would be correct.

As reported on Wrestling Observer Live, Sullivan’s vignettes for the main roster were supposed to start airing in December but Vince McMahon chose to air them early in November.

“The big video package for Lars was going to be at the December pay-per-view and Vince just decided ‘we’ll do it a month early. let’s do it at Survivor Series.’ So the whole time, they were going to do the whole deal where Raw wants him and SmacDown wants him and then eventually he would make his decision. That was always scheduled to be in January so when they announced it in November, there were no imminent plans to call him up immediately.”

Alvarez explained that of the NXT videos that have aired on WWE programming in recent weeks were shown because WWE wanted to get word out to fans that change was coming. This was their reaction to the declining ratings.

“All of that stuff was done because allegedly the fans wanted change and the company was going to give them change and the change they gave them was ‘this is what we’re planning on doing early, we’re just going to tell you about it before it happens.'”

Heavy Machinery, EC3 and Lacey Evans debuted on dark matches this week but Lars Sullivan was supposed to appear on Raw and SmackDown Live. For some reason, he was not there.

“Lars Sullivan was supposed to appear on Raw on Monday and he wasn’t there,” Alvarez said. “Then he was supposed to appear on SmackDown on Tuesday and he wasn’t there. I have no idea what that means. I have no idea what his future is. I just know he was supposed to be on both of those shows and he wasn’t there. He was earmarked for a very big match at WrestleMania and maybe we’ll know more on Monday, maybe we’ll know more on Tuesday [or] maybe at the Rumble. I don’t know, that’s all I can tell you. He was supposed to be there at both shows and he was not there.”
