On Saturday, Dolph Ziggler did an interview with entertainment reporter Chris Van Vliet. Ziggler was very careful with his words and it sounded like he was sort of confirming the report by PWInsider that claimed that he was on his way out of the company.
Ziggler said that he was on a hiatus with WWE and praised All Elite Wrestling, which sounded to some like he might be considering going there. Ziggler also said that he was not scheduled to be in the Royal Rumble.
Everything Ziggler said could be 100 percent true. He might not have been scheduled for the Rumble at the time he did the interview and he does appear to be on hiatus while he does comedy shows in different cities. It does not look like he is done with WWE.
On Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez noted that Ziggler signed a new deal in the Fall.
Alvarez said, “I don’t know what’s up with Dolph but he did re-sign in the Fall so he’s not going anywhere unless they give him a release, which I doubt.”
Another sign that Ziggler is not going anywhere is how he was booked in the Rumble. WWE didn’t bury him and he was booked to eliminate Drew McIntyre so odds are that he will be back on WWE TV at some point in the near future.
