Seth Rollins and others injured, update on why several WWE Superstars missed weekend live events

As we wrote about earlier, several WWE Superstars missed this weekend’s live events, despite being advertised to appear.

Seth Rollins is said to be dealing with an issue that predated the angle with Brock Lesnar, according to a report from John Polock at Post Wrestling. This explains why Dean Ambrose replaced him at the live event in Saskatoon, Canada. Rollins is off live events and is not expected at Raw this Monday. He will only be doing promos and nothing physical for about a month so he can recover.

Sasha Banks is not cleared to wrestle following her match with Ronda Rousey at the Royal Rumble but she is expected to be cleared in time for the tag team match on Raw. Banks will team up with Bayley to take on Nikki Cross and Alicia Fox in a qualifying match for the Women’s Tag Team Title match at the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view.

Pollock also noted that AJ Styles is “dinged up” and should be cleared in time for SmackDown Live.

Earlier today, we posted an update on Becky Lynch after a WWE source reached out to say that Lynch wearing her brace in public is just so she can sell the “injury” storyline. That is something that was done many years ago and is rarely done among the current wrestlers so credit to her for keeping kayfabe even when she’s away from WWE cameras.

Pollock confirmed that the brace she’s been wearing is part of her selling the storyline and it will play out this week on WWE TV. Lynch will be on Raw for a segment with Stephanie McMahon, presumably to help continue her storyline with Ronda Rousey.
