WWE says advertised SummerSlam match with The Undertaker is not happening

As noted earlier, there are local ads out in Toronto featuring The Undertaker vs. Drew McIntyre as one of the top matches for this year’s SummerSlam pay-per-view.

The match makes sense given that Taker and Roman Reigns will be facing Shane McMahon and McIntyre this Sunday at WWE Extreme Rules and one would think that the match on Sunday will lead to blow-off singles matches. Taker’s new WWE contract includes multiple matches and appearances this year and SummerSlam is one of their biggest shows of the year so it’s no surprise to see Taker advertised for that show.

However, WWE has denied that McIntyre vs. Taker is one of the planned matches. The denial came after Dave Meltzer asked about it after news about the local advertisement got out.

“There’s advertising for Toronto for SummerSlam for Undertaker and Drew McIntyre,” Meltzer said on Wrestling Observer Radio. “I asked about that and I was just told don’t read anything into it, is what I was told. The fact that they are advertising that match also tells me that Undertaker is probably going to be at SummerSlam.”

In other SummerSlam news, there is another advertisement that includes a top star that we haven’t seen on TV in months. Click here if you want to see the ad (note: it’s a spoiler post).
