The NXT Women’s Championship was the semi-main event at NXT TakeOver: Toronto at Scotiabank Arena. Shayna Baszler put her title on the line against Mia Yim and they had a lot to follow because the matches before them were excellent. Ranallo noted that Yim is celebrating 10 years in the wrestling business and her family was in attendance for this match.
Baszler sold her right arm throughout most of this match. The match was fine but nothing like the earlier matches. The fans started to react when Yim hit an avalanche code blue off the top rope for a near pin.
Despite the issues with her arm, Baszler was able to win by choking out Yim with her legs and forcing her to tap out.
