Samoa Joe suffered a concussion on last night’s episode of WWE Raw, as confirmed by Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
Last night on Raw, Joe teamed with Kevin Owens in a tag team match against Seth Rollins and Buddy Murphy for the Raw Tag Team Championships. Joe went for a dive through the ropes and landed hard on the floor just before they went to commercial. The trainer at ringside made the call to take Joe out of the match so he could be evaluated backstage.
At first, it looked like a storyline to give Owens cover for losing a handicap match but Joe’s injury was legitimate and Dave Meltzer reported today that Joe’s concussion is being monitored through usual protocol.
It’s unknown when Joe will be able to return to in-ring action since concussions can take days, weeks and even months to recover from. Joe returned to action in December after being sidelined with a broken thumb.
