It turns out that former WWE Raw Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey will not be part of this year’s WrestleMania event.
Dave Meltzer reported in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Rousey is not scheduled for the show. As of this writing, there’s no word yet on the reason Rousey won’t be at WrestleMania.
Originally, WWE wanted to have Rousey wrestle Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania 36. This match was what WWE originally had planned for WrestleMania 35 but that match got change once Becky Lynch caught fire with fans and it was made a Triple Threat Match.
Instead, WWE’s direction will be to have Flair use her right to challenge for the NXT Title that is currently held by Rhea Ripley at the show. Flair earned a title match by winning the Women’s Royal Rumble Match.
Rousey’s 231-day reign as Raw Women’s Champion ended at WrestleMania 35 when she dropped it to Lynch. This marked her first loss in her pro wrestling career and last match with WWE.
WWE holds the WrestleMania 36 pay-per-view event on Sunday, April 5, 2020 in Tampa, Florida at the Raymond James Stadium. To read about other top WrestleMania matches, click here.
