Tony Schiavone explains why he’s unsure AEW will ever be as big as WWE

Tony Schiavone, who serves as a color commentator as well as an interviewer on AEW Dynamite, recently did an interview with Sportskeeda’s Matty Paddock

This is where he spoke about a wide range of topics including the potential of AEW and what he hopes the promotion will be for the pro wrestling business.

“I don’t know if AEW will ever be as big as the WWE; with a Network, and the reach that they have overseas, because WWE has been around for a long time. But I’d like to see it be a viable part of wrestling [and] I’d like it to be a place where very good professional wrestlers – both men and women – can come and make a good living, and be treated fairly… that’s what I’d like AEW to be.”

Schiavone signed with All Elite Wrestling back in August after working for MLW. At the time of his signing, there were reports that WWE had an interest in signing him but he decided to sign with AEW instead.

For the lapsed fans, it was an interesting signing as he was back on TNT with AEW Dynamite nearly 20 years after he was the lead announcer for Monday Nitro that was presented by WCW.
