There were a couple of bright spots on this week’s episode of WWE Monday Night Raw, especially the last segment with Randy Orton and Beth Phoenix.
However, there was some backlash on social media for most of the show, including Ricochet being defeated by Riddick Moss in what appears to be Vince McMahon’s latest burial of someone who is considered to be a Paul Heyman guy.
On Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez noted that even with the XFL in full swing, Vince McMahon is very hands-on with the show even when he’s not backstage. McMahon was backstage on Monday and he didn’t like what was planned so he decided to rewrite the show.
Alvarez said, “That Randy Orton segment at the end of Raw was unbelievable. And man, I thought the tag match was great and I thought the segment at the beginning where they put over Drew McIntyre three times on Brock Lesnar was great. That stuff was great but the middle two hours between that sucked.”
He added, “I don’t know everything that happened on Monday but I do know that this guy showed up and he changed everything again. Apparently, it was worse than usual and if you watched the show, the show was worse than usual.”
Heyman has been able to get some ideas in but it is clear that real change will never happen in WWE unless McMahon decides to step back and let others have complete control over the creative side of things.
There is a reason why the final segment was so great and it had very little to do with Vince McMahon. Click here for news on who had a lot of creative input for that segment.
