The Coronavirus continues to impact NJPW’s business.
New Japan Pro Wrestling announced on Tuesday morning that they have decided to cancel the remainder of the New Japan Cup tour due to the outbreak of the virus in Japan.
NJPW made the call after a meeting by a specialist government taskforce. The tour was originally scheduled to resume on March 16 in Toyama.
However, the promotion plans to make announcements about these events after March 22 “upon careful monitoring of this developing situation.”
As a result, the promotion will give refunds to fans soon. In the meantime, they will air programs on New Japan World featuring talent. The last show that the promotion held was back on February 26
NJPW isn’t the only promotion to cancel shows in Japan as All Japan Pro Wrestling canceled shows from March 13 through March 22.
The New Japan Cup tournament winner was scheduled to challenge Tetsuya Naito for the IWGP Heavyweight and Intercontinental Titles at the Sakura Genesis event on March 31.
