Becky Lynch wanted to lose WWE Raw Women’s Title at WrestleMania 36

Becky Lynch made an appearance on The Bella Twins’ podcast where she discussed her pregnancy and more.

Of course, she is due with her first child with Seth Rollins in December. She announced the news on an episode of Raw the night after the Money in the Bank pay-per-view event, which also saw her award Asuka, who had won the Women’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match, with the title.

It turns out that Lynch had originally pitched WWE officials to drop the title at WrestleMania 36 where she took on Shayna Baszler because she and Rollins were trying to get pregnant around that time. However, plans changed.

“I don’t know about you guys, but you have your goals and your working towards everything, but in the back of my mind, I always wanted to be a mother and have a family…I knew I wanted to try and have a baby before 35. Then I met Colby [Seth Rollins] and was like, ‘Perfect, this is my person.’ This was always the plan.

She noted that she was going to wait until after she was done wrestling to have a child, but decided against that idea because men don’t wait around to become a father.

“We started trying and I thought it would take a long time, and it didn’t, we were super lucky. It happened before I would have expected. I was still the champ at the time. I actually thought I was going to lose the title at WrestleMania, which I also pitched, that was the end of it. Plans change.”

She went on to talk about feeling sick after WrestleMania and she took an early test to see if she was pregnant. At first, she read the test wrong, and later after coming back from the gym saw that the test had two lines.

Lynch wanted to get beat really quickly to drop the title, but that idea was nixed. Then the idea of a tournament for the number one contender came up with the competitors not knowing they were competing for the title. However, Money in the Bank was happening at the same time and WWE  ended up merging the two ideas together to get to the moment.
