WWE loophole closed as Philadelphia joins list of states mandating a quarantine for Florida travelers

Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf has announced that anyone who travels from a state that is seeing a surge of coronavirus cases will need to quarantine for 14 days when they arrive in the state. Florida is on the list of states and this effectively shuts down a loophole that WWE was using to get talent from back and forth between Orlando, Florida and the northeast for TV tapings.

The loophole was detailed in last week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter. Basically, since there was a quarantine mandate already in effect in states like Connecticut and New York, WWE’s plan was to fly people in and out of Philadelphia, PA. The announcement today from the governor means that WWE will have to figure out another way to make sure northeast talent is available.

If they choose to disregard the loophole (and fly into New York, for example) then talent/staff can be subject to a $1,000 fine in New York for a first offense and $2,000 for a second offense. There would be a $10,000 fine for subsequent offenses.

Governor Phil Murphy also announced that the 14-day quarantine will be in effect for his state and that includes people traveling from Florida.
