It appears that Vince McMahon changed his mind regarding the planned match between Drew McIntyre and Dolph Ziggler that is scheduled to take place on Monday’s episode of Raw.
Last week’s show saw the announcement that McIntyre would defend his WWE Championship against Ziggler during this upcoming episode. It was even revealed that McIntyre will be able to pick the stipulation right before the match begins.
The Raw preview article is up on WWE’s website and now lists the contest as a non-title match. Here’s an excerpt:
“WWE Champion Drew McIntyre agreed to face Dolph Ziggler in a non-title rematch, but this time, he gets to choose the stipulation.”
As seen at the WWE Extreme Rules pay-per-view event in Orlando, Florida at the WWE Performance Center on the WWE Network, McIntyre successfully retained the WWE Title over Ziggler.
Ziggler went with an Extreme Rules stipulation for only himself. Thus, the reason why McIntyre is able to pick the stipulation for the rematch.
As of this writing, there’s no word yet on why this bout was changed to a non-title match. It should be noted that WWE taped this episode last Monday.
