Big E spoke with Yahoo Sports for a new interview where he discussed a wide range of topics including his current singles run.
Last month, it was revealed that Big E would be getting a singles push for the first time in several years due to injuries suffered by fellow New Day members – Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods.
Kingston suffered an injury while working a tag team tables match at the Extreme Rules pay-per-view while Woods has been on the sidelines for months. Kingston will only be out of action for a few weeks.
“This is all kind of coming out of nowhere. I feel confident that I am ready for this. The interesting thing and weird thing is we don’t have that organic response. I hope people enjoy this run, I hope it’s good and entertaining, I hope all of the people who have clamored for this for years are not disappointed.”
WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley has already shared his support for Big E, who understands that he will always be a representative of the New Day even though he’s being pushed as a singles star.
“I always see it as I am a representative of the New Day. The same way that Kofi credited Woods and me and said that when he won it was for all of us, that’s the same feeling I have. This adds to all of our legacies because I don’t get this far, I don’t have this much without those two. I don’t even know if I am around in this company without those two.”
Big E also spoke about The New Day’s platform, kneeling on an episode of Friday Night SmackDown, and more. You can check out the full interview here.
