Ric Flair is off WWE TV but he would love to return as Randy Orton’s manager in time for the WWE Championship match at SummerSlam.
During an interview with TV Insider, Flair said he has reached out to WWE about coming back to work but he has yet to hear back from them. Flair said, “I certainly would love the opportunity, but I think it would have to be one of those scenarios. I’m trying to get me to manage Randy against [Drew] McIntyre [at SummerSlam]. I don’t know. I haven’t heard back, but it’s not because I’m not trying.”
As previously noted here on WrestlingNews.co, Flair was set to be written out of storylines. The plan was for him to be written out during the match between Orton and Big Show on Raw but there was a COVID-19 scare in the family when his wife Wendy Barlow tested positive and Flair was not seen on Raw, despite him being included in the graphics during the show.
Flair has said that he did not test positive for the virus and his wife is said to be feeling better so if WWE wants him, there’s nothing stopping them from calling him. Many would argue that even with the COVID-19 precautions being taken at the Performance Center, it’s not such a smart move to have a 71-year-old at these events.
As of this writing, SummerSlam is still scheduled for the Performance Center in Orlando but WWE has been trying to lock in a location outside of Florida in an outdoor venue.
