Last month, it was reported here on WrestlingNews.co that Ric Flair was about to be written off TV since he was only supposed to be back for a short time.
The angle was supposed to happen a couple of weeks ago when Randy Orton faced Big Show but it was delayed because they kept Flair off the show for precautionary reasons since his wife Wendy Barlow tested positive for COVID-19.
It looks like the angle will finally happen on tomorrow’s episode of Monday Night Raw. On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer referenced a Ric Flair angle that was scheduled to be taped last Monday for tomorrow’s show and, unless Vince McMahon makes a late decision to change plans, it looks like Flair will be written off tomorrow night. Meltzer did not go into detail on what the Ric Flair angle is about but you can read between the lines.
“It’s already taped so Ric Flair is there and the Ric Flair angle I guess is probably already taped unless they canned it,” Meltzer said. “At the last word, when they were doing the taping that afternoon, the Ric Flair angle was definitely still on the show. The only two things that were there [in the script] were Shane McMahon’s thing and the Ric Flair-Randy Orton angle and then they threw that show together at the end.”
WrestlingNews.co was told that Flair would be written off during the weeks leading up to Orton vs. Drew McIntyre at SummerSlam because the feeling is that it’s better to solely focus on Orton and McIntyre and there would be no need to use Flair in this feud.
Here is what WWE has announced for Monday Night Raw:
– Kevin Owens vs. Randy Orton (w/Ric Flair)
– Asuka vs. Bayley. If Asuka wins then she gets a Raw Women’s Title Match at SummerSlam
– More of Shane McMahon’s Raw Underground
– Triple Brand Battle Royal. Winner challenges for Bayley’s SmackDown Women’s Championship at SummerSlam.
