This week on WWE Monday Night Raw, The IIconics (Peyton Royce and Billie Kay) took on Liv Morgan and Ruby Riott to determine who would get a shot at the Women’s Tag Team Championship. Per the stipulation, the losing team would disband. WWE’s specific verbiage said that the losing team would be “no more.”
Riott got the pin on Kay so that means that The IIconics are no more. The Riott Squad will challenge Shayna Baszler and Nia Jax for the Women’s Tag Team Championship, presumably at the Clash of Champions PPV.
The break-up of The IIconics is not a big surprise. WWE has been teasing their break-up off and on since May. It was reported earlier this month by Dave Meltzer that Vince McMahon held a meeting in late July and said that he sees Bianca Belair and Peyton Royce as singles stars.
To sell the break-up, WWE announcer Tom Phillips said that Kay and Royce’s friendship has ended after knowing each other for over a decade. It was a silly line since they could still be friends outside of the ring.
