The year got off to a rough start for Kevin Owens on WWE Friday Night SmackDown. It looks like his feud with Roman Reigns and Jey Uso will continue but he may be off TV for a couple of weeks.
As many of you saw on SmackDown, Owens got some revenge on Jey Uso but then he was brutally attacked by Uso and Reigns at the end of the show and in the final moments of the show, Owens was shoved off a platform in the ThunderDome and he crashed through a table.
WWE posted an update on Owens on their social media platforms. According to WWE, Owens was taken to a “local medical facility” and diagnosed with a “spinal contusion” and “bruised kidneys.”
The wording on their update is a clear indication that this is a storyline injury. At this point, it looks like we will be seeing at least one more Owens vs. Reigns match for the Universal Championship before Reigns shifts his focus to his WrestleMania feud.
