Top star pushing WWE to call up more NXT wrestlers to SmackDown

It’s been well documented that Daniel Bryan has a growing role in creative for the SmackDown brand.

It turns out that the former WWE Champion has been pushing for more NXT stars to be called up to the main roster and placed on the blue branded show. Dave Meltzer reported the news in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

The report notes that the reason for this is due to him thinking it’s a way to freshen up the main roster. As of this writing, there’s no word yet on who exactly Bryan has pushed for to be called up.

It was reported earlier this week that WWE had plans to bring in Damian Priest where he would’ve made his main roster debut on last week’s episode of SmackDown. The idea was for him to be featured in the main event segment alongside Kevin Owens, Jey Uso, and Universal Champion Roman Reigns.

However, Reigns shot down the idea of Priest coming in to save Owens as his friend. Another NXT star is also expected to be moved to the main roster as well.
