WWE is in the middle of building to a match that will see Edge challenge Universal Champion Roman Reigns for the strap at the upcoming Money in the Bank pay-per-view event.
The last time that Edge and Reigns wrestled each other was at WrestleMania 37, which also featured Daniel Bryan as they all worked a triple threat match and Reigns ended up retaining the title.
Bryan later worked a solo program with Reigns that resulted in him being banned from SmackDown, which was the cover story for his WWE contract expiring.
Bryan’s future in the pro wrestling business remains to be a secret as no one seems to know aside from Bryan and his family whether he will make a return to WWE or go to another promotion.
As part of the feud with Edge and Reigns, there have been various mentions of Bryan on TV as of late. Dave Meltzer reported in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that he was told the mentions aren’t an indication of Bryan coming back.
The situation has stayed the same as nobody really knows what he’s doing next. Meltzer wrote, “they [WWE] keep mentioning his name because he is part of the story of building Reigns vs. Edge, since they are using him as the reason Edge didn’t already win the title.”
