It was reported earlier this month that Ric Flair was no longer under contract with WWE and the company later confirmed it in a statement posted on their website.
It was reportedly a Vince McMahon decision after getting a text message from Flair regarding his opinion about the way WWE had been booking his daughter, Charlotte. The WWE Hall of Famer claimed in a statement that it was his decision to leave the promotion.
After his release, there had been speculation as to where Flair would end up next with All Elite Wrestling being a possibility as Andrade El Idolo, who is engaged to Flair’s daughter Charlotte, is currently in AEW. Andrade reportedly wants to bring Ric and Charlotte to the rival promotion.
Dave Meltzer reported in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that “while nothing has been announced, the word going around is that it seems to be a lock Ric Flair will be headed here when he is legally able.”
Booker T noted on his podcast that he is under the impression that Flair wants one more run. Since that time, the WWE Hall of Famer has stated on Twitter that he’ll never retire, which has only fueled the speculation about him wrestling again.
