The main event for this year’s WWE Royal Rumble pay-per-view is confirmed.
As noted on Sunday, Dave Meltzer reported that Bobby Lashley will challenge Brock Lesnar for the WWE Championship. Meltzer’s report did not state when the match will happen but it was confirmed today by pro wrestling/boxing/MMA writer Steve Muehlhausen that the match will indeed take place at the Rumble.
This is not what was planned for the Rumble because Lesnar was supposed to wrestle Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship at Day 1 but the match was scrapped when Reigns tested positive for COVID-19. Big E was originally supposed to retain his title. PWInsider reported today that Lesnar is now considered internally to be part of the Raw roster but he has already flown home so don’t expect him to be at Raw tonight.

Another match that seems likely for the Rumble is another Becky Lynch vs. Liv Morgan rematch. At Day 1, Lynch was supposed to get her feet on the ropes but she was too far and it turned into a clean win for her. WWE will have to do an angle to explain why Morgan deserves another match.
As of this writing, here is what the top of the card looks like for the Rumble so far:
– Brock Lesnar vs. Bobby Lashley (WWE Championship)
– Becky Lynch vs. Liv Morgan (WWE Raw Women’s Championship)
– Men’s Royal Rumble Match
– Women’s Royal Rumble Match
