The class for this year’s WWE Hall of Fame is slowly coming along, as just today, the company confirmed that Andy Kaufman would be honored.
He joins the likes of Rey Mysterio and The Great Muta in the 2023 class. As previously reported, Dave Bautista is not expected to go in, while the company is planning to induct Stacy Keibler into the class.
Pwinsider Elite reports that there has been talk of the company honoring a referee for the first time. It’s still unclear which referee will be inducted, but multiple sources told them that “it’s someone the entire industry loved.”
Since taking over creative from Vince McMahon last summer, fans may have noticed Triple H letting commentators acknowledge the names of referees during broadcasts, something McMahon prohibited when he was handling creative before stepping away following the hush money scandal.
Having a referee be inducted into the honorary class may be something that Triple H wanted.
