The Great Muta will be inducted into the 2023 WWE Hall Of Fame

The class for this year’s WWE Hall of Fame continues to come along as the latest inductee has been announced – The Great Muta (Keiji Muto).

ESPN joins PWInsider.com in reporting that Muta will be announced for the class. WWE will make it official today by having Ric Flair formally announce the news on The Bump. It’s expected that Flair will induct Muta into the Hall of Fame.

The Great Muta is the alter ego of Muto, who had his retirement match on February 21 against Tetsuya Naito.

Muto first appeared as Muta in 1989 for the NWA before bringing the character to Japan. He had famous matches with various top names, including Sting and Flair.

Muta has worked for several promotions, including WCW, All Japan Pro Wrestling, NWA, NJPW, and Pro Wrestling Noah. He’s considered one of the greatest Japanese wrestlers of all time. Among the titles he held during his career include AJPW’s Triple Crown Heavyweight Champion, NJPW’s IWGP Heavyweight Championship, and Noah’s GHC Heavyweight Championship.

Rey Mysterio was announced as the first inductee into this year’s WWE Hall of Fame class during Friday’s episode of SmackDown. Konann will induct him. Hulk Hogan recently hinted at two names potentially being honored this year.

As previously reported on Monday, WWE is in talks with a former star to induct them into the class. For more on that, click here.
