Cody Rhodes went out to the ring tonight on WWE Raw to address Roman Reigns and to talk about the possibility that he may face Sami Zayn in the main event of WrestleMania.
Cody said it was the year 2000 when the Rhodes family went broke with just $100 in a Wachovia checking account. Cody said that his father Dusty got a phone call from Heyman to book an angle with Steve Corino.
Cody thanked Heyman for helping his father gain his confidence back. Cody noted that he was “somewhere else” during the last few years and Heyman helped show him the way.
Heyman got emotional and then said that “this is about you.” Cody got emotional as Heyman talked about what Cody has gone through in order to get to the main event of WrestleMania. Heyman then turned it up by saying that what Cody is attempting to do is an attempt to take away from the biggest box office draw of all time, Roman Reigns.
Heyman noted that Dusty trained Seth Rollins, Becky Lynch, Bayley, Kevin Owens, and Roman Reigns. Then Heyman said that Dusty did not train and prep Cody, perhaps because he wanted Cody to make it out on his own and not go through life as “Dusty’s son” and rather as Cody and the man who stops the Tribal Chief. Heyman then said that Cody was his favorite son but Roman Reigns was the son he always wanted.
Cody said that he just wanted to win a wrestling championship but now it’s personal and the person who will pay is Roman Reigns at WrestleMania. This was an incredible segment.
