Fans praised the show’s booking and the wrestlers for their in-ring work this past Saturday following the WWE Clash At The Castle 2024 Premium Live Event from the OVO Hydro in Glasgow, Scotland, which had several notable moments.
It opened with Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes vs. AJ Styles in an I-Quit match that resulted in Styles quitting after Rhodes threatened to hit him with steel steps. It closed with WWE World Heavyweight Champion Damian Priest vs. Drew McIntyre, stipulating that Judgment Day was barred from ringside, with it ending in controversy as McIntyre connected with a claymore kick to Priest.
A second referee came down to count the pinfall, but CM Punk stopped counting. McIntyre went to choke Punk, who hit Drew with a low blow. Priest hit his finisher, Drew, for the win.
The show also had a title change as Isla Dawn & Alba Fyre won the Women’s Tag Team Titles in a triple threat match that included former champions Bianca Belair & Jade Cargill and Shayna Baszler & Zoey Stark.
WrestleStats noted that the new champions are just the second team to hold two different Women’s Tag Team Titles, with the first being Kayden Carter and Katana Chance. Both teams held the WWE and NXT Women’s Tag Team Titles with the same partner.
The Unholy Union is the 2nd duo to hold 2 *different* women's tag titles, joining Chance & Carter.
Each team held both the @WWE and #NXT Women's Tag Team Titles; with the same set of partners when they were champions. #WWECastle @wwe_alba @IslaDawn
