WWE NXT kicked off the year with its first PLE in the way of Vengeance Day, which went down on Sunday night from the F&M Bank Arena in Clarksville, TN.

WWE NXT Champion Ilja Dragunov vs. Trick Williams headlined this show with fans buzzing as Carmelo Hayes turned on Williams after the match.
Other top matches include North American Champion Oba Femi vs. Dragon Lee, Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic Finals with Hayes & Williams vs. Bron Breakker & Baron Corbin, and NXT Women’s Champion Lyra Valkyria vs. Roxanne Perez. Corbin and Breakker went over in the finals of the tournament.
History
The WWE Stats Twitter account pointed out an interesting fact regarding the bout as Corbin became only the 7th star in history to be a runner-up in the tournament and then later winning it. He joins the likes of Pete Dunne, Wes Lee, and Cora Jade as stars to have done this.
Corbin was previously in the finals back in 2015 when he teamed with Rhyno, but they fell short to Finn Balor and Samoa Joe.
