A WWE title has apparently been retired

It looks like WWE has retired one of their titles.

As was noted earlier, the WWE 24/7 Title was defended by Dana Brooke on TV for the first time in many weeks. Nikki Cross was her challenger and they wrestled a serious match with no comedy.

This appeared to be a reset for the title but moments later, Cross was shown backstage with Damage CTRL and she tossed it by a trash can. She missed the trash can but it came across as if WWE was ditching the title.

The title was an updated version of the Hardcore Title from the Attitude Era. The 24/7 Title was introduced in 2019 when Vince McMahon felt like it was needed to boost ratings for Monday Night Raw.

The title has primarily been used in comedy skits where wrestlers, referees, celebrities, and legends could win it at any time, and oftentimes there would be multiple title switches during the same show. The comedy segments were a favorite of Vince McMahon but Triple H might not feel the same way if he is getting rid of the title. Click below to watch Nikki toss the title after she won it.
