The AAA TripleMania XXX: Mexico City event took place this Saturday night, although it did lose some star power as AEW’s Thunder Rosa and Kenny Omega couldn’t make the show. Rosa is out with an injury. As previously revealed by Konnan, Omega wasn’t allowed to work the show due to his AEW suspension.
At TripleMania, Konnan was named head of talent relations for AAA Lucha Libre and was part of an angle where The Vipers attacked him only to get his revenge later in the show.
Konnan stated during the show that there was one specific talent he wanted to be involved in the show but couldn’t because of legal issues, and that was Omega. Konnan came up with the idea for Omega to be a part of the show by sending in a vignette directed at the winner of the Mega Championship match between Rey Fenix and El Hijo del Vikingo.
Omega is a former AAA Mega Champion and had to vacate the title in November 2021 due to him taking time off to heal up from injuries. El Hijo del Vikingo later won the title at AAA Triplemania Regia II, so it’s a natural storyline for AAA to do between Omega and Vikingo.
Omega, The Young Bucks, CM Punk, and Ace Steel have all been suspended from AEW following a backstage brawl at the AEW All Out pay-per-view-view event. This was after Punk ripped Colt Cabana, The Bucks, and Hangman Page at the media scrum. There is an ongoing investigation into the fight, and until it’s settled, there’s no word on when the suspensions of these stars will be lifted.
Konnan just said that he asked Kenny Omega if he could send a video directed at the winner of the Mega Championship match, but said he couldn’t because of the legal situation he is in… 😔#Triplemanía30 #TriplemaníaXXX

About Kenny Omega shooting a video directed towards the winner of tonight's AAA Mega Championship match, according to Konnan, Kenny asked him if he could do that but with the serious investigation he's still in from the All Out fallout he can't legally do that until it ends.
