Ric Flair: ‘I wish I could have managed Andrade El Idolo in AEW’

Andrade El Idolo has expressed frustration with the lack of television time on AEW programming. Perhaps being managed by his father-in-law would’ve changed things as Ric Flair was interested in managing the AEW star.

Flair has been the manager of Andrade a few times, including when Andrade wrestled Kenny Omega for AAA and at the WWC (World Wrestling Council) 49th Anniversary show in Bayamon, Puerto Rico, when Andrade wrestled Carlito.

While speaking on the latest episode of his podcast, “To Be The Man,” Flair noted that he doesn’t know why AEW President Tony Khan didn’t want to use him for this role.

“I haven’t spoken with him, I knew he had a big match … I don’t really what — really haven’t kept track of what he’s doing there,” Flair said. “I had hoped, as I told you before, I wish Tony would have let me manage him. He is an absolutely phenomenal worker and tough kid. I wish I could have managed him, but I guess Tony elected not to go with me for whatever reason.”

Andrade is set to face Dark Order’s Preston “10” Vance in a Mask vs. Career Match on Friday’s edition of Rampage. If Andrade loses, then he will leave the promotion. Andrade recently called his AEW run stagnant.
