This week’s episode of AEW Dynamite ended with smoke as there was an angle where Hangman Page burned down Swerve Strickland’s childhood home ahead of their unsanctioned lights-out steel cage match at Saturday’s All Out pay-per-view event.
As the house burned down, Page was enjoying whiskey. Earlier in the day, Strickland shared a video of him talking about the home and being able to purchase it.
Fightful Select reports this angle had been planned for months, and a small crew used to be on set for it. This wasn’t Strickland’s actual childhood home. AEW mentioned his new deal on TV to partly play into the angle.
Not only was the storyline but the segment was said to be confidential to the point that several wrestlers congratulated Swerve on the big purchase with Strickland keeping kayfabe. Some have questioned why Page wasn’t arrested for arson.
There will be a storyline explanation behind it.
