WATCH: CM Punk Apologizes To Saudi Arabia Fans For Past Tweet

During the WWE Night of Champions Kickoff Show in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, CM Punk addressed a long-standing controversy, offering a public apology to the fans in Saudi Arabia, blaming it on waking up grumpy that day and had nothing to do with Saudi Arabia. The apology was in reference to an infamous, since-deleted tweet from 2020.

The controversy stemmed from a social media exchange where, in response to a taunt from The Miz, Punk wrote, “Go s*ck a blood money-covered d**k in Saudi Arabia, you f**king dork.” The comment has followed Punk for years, with many questioning if he would ever compete in the country.

Now, standing on Saudi Arabian soil ahead of his Undisputed WWE Championship match against John Cena, Punk directly addressed his past words. “Legitimately had nothing to do with Saudi Arabia. I woke up crabby and I wrote a mean tweet to The Miz and I apologised to The Miz…and I sincerely apologise to all of Saudi Arabia. I’m not perfect by any means, sometimes as human beings we screw up. The beautiful thing is everything is a lesson learned, and now here I am and you’ve invited me into your country and I’m grateful to be here. Thank you very much.”

With the apology made, Punk’s focus now shifts to his main event title match against John Cena this Saturday.
