Former WWE Champion Is Taking A Break From Wrestling

Former WWE Universal Champion Braun Strowman, real name Adam Scherr, has provided an update on his wrestling future following his release from the company earlier this year. WWE released Strowman on May 2, 2025, and has not competed in a match or made any other wrestling-related appearances since his departure.

In an interview with Going Ringside, Strowman clarified that he is not retired from professional wrestling. Instead, he is taking time off to recover physically and explore other opportunities outside of the ring.

“I’m taking a break right now,” Strowman stated. “These (hands) are always ready if anybody wants them, but right now, I’m enjoying taking a little break, getting my body healed back up as normal as I can, and experiencing some other things that life has to experience. I loved my time with WWE, but it took up every bit of my time. Now I’m having some opportunities to get out and do some other stuff, see some other things.”

Strowman has been busy with projects outside of wrestling. He noted one of his new business ventures, a tequila brand. “I’ve made some ventures, I have a tequila brand now, Quintaliza, we’re working on that, so just living life and having fun,” he said.

In addition to his new brand, Strowman is also the host of a new television series. The show, Everything On The Menu with Braun Strowman, premiered this past Friday, October 24, on the USA Network. The series, which is produced by WWE Studios and BrightNorth Studios, airs following WWE SmackDown. The concept for the show was developed while Strowman was recovering from neck fusion surgery in 2023 and follows him as he travels the country to eat every item on the menu at different restaurants.
