Maven Reveals Who He Thinks Should Retire John Cena

Former WWE star Maven has weighed in on who he believes should face John Cena in his final match. Cena’s farewell tour is culminating in a 16-man tournament to determine his last opponent, and Maven believes that coveted spot must go to a rising star.

Appearing on TMZ Inside The Ring, Maven, who debuted around the same time as Cena, explained the booking philosophy behind such a significant match.

“It’s going to have to be someone that they’re trying to push moving forward, someone that they see to carry the ball, you know, for the next 10 years, someone that needs the push. That’s the whole thing in wrestling. When someone’s on the way down and on the way out, their job is to pass the rock to here. You take it from here. And that’s usually a very coveted slot. That’s why the whole taker WrestleMania streak was such a big deal, because he ideally wanted someone to take that streak that you were going to make the company was going to make money with moving forward.”

Maven’s Pick: Bron Breakker

Maven, who admitted he doesn’t watch the current product every week but keeps up with it on his feed, named Bron Breakker as his ideal choice. “Yeah, and just because I’m selfish and I like the guy a lot, he pops up, I could not be more just impressed with Bron Breakker. If you were in a lab making a wrestler, my God, you’d make him undeniable. It’s just insane.”

He also praised Breakker’s ability to represent the company, a key trait that defined Cena’s own career.

“What finally sold me on him too… You need someone who’s going to be so well spoken, someone who’s going to represent your company. Well, that was one of Cena, you know, magical, you know, parts about him. For all those years… you knew he was going to represent the company glowingly. When I watched Bron, and he’s so well spoken, he comes off looking, just making the company look great. So I think selfishly, just because I’m such a fan of his, I’d like to see maybe him,”

‘Cody Doesn’t Need It’

Maven explained that giving the match to an already established main eventer would be a wasted opportunity.

“But you can’t give that spot to someone that’s already established, someone who likes Cody. Cody doesn’t need it. Cody’s already over. Seth doesn’t need it. Seth’s already over. You need that spot to be for someone who needs that final kick in the ass, that final boost, yeah, to, you know, to put them to just to the stratosphere,”

Maven’s pick is a strong contender, as Bron Breakker is part of “The Last Time is Now” tournament to determine Cena’s opponent. Breakker was featured in the opening segment of the November 3 Monday Night Raw, where he, Bronson Reed, and Paul Heyman attacked the new World Heavyweight Champion, CM Punk.
