More news on what the referee was told before the Undertaker/Brock Lesnar match

Here is an update on the Undertaker vs. Brock Lesnar finish from WrestleMania XXX match. Dave Meltzer reports that referee Chad Patton (as previously reported) was never told the finish of the match. He also was not told the finish by Brock Lesnar or The Undertaker during the  match as some might have thought.

Patton was told before the match that he was to count if a man’s shoulders were down and it didn’t matter whose shoulders. He was told to treat it as a shoot. The only time he was not to count to three was when Taker applied the Hell’s Gate submission. Taker’s shoulders would be on the mat when he applied the move.

It’s really weird for the company to put the referee in that position and not tell the referee the finish. If they wanted to prevent the finish from getting out then all they needed to do was have Heyman, Taker, or Lesnar tell the referee once he was in the ring.
