Here is the latest on the Spike TV-TNA situation. As of right now, it looks like a deal will be made before the contract expires with Spike TV. There is no deal in place right now though. Officially, the word from Spike TV is that there is no update. Spike TV gets over 1 million viewers each week from TNA and that is above what they do for the station average.
Professional wrestling also helps them promote the Bellator brand. UFC no longer gets 400,000 to 500,000 viewers for the pay-per-view preview shows but Bellator can if they had a lead-in like Impact. Spike TV still likes having wrestling, kickboxing, and MMA on their network so TNA appears to be safe. However, TNA’s business is a concern to them since the reports of late payments to talent and crew have been made public. Right now, TNA’s only real revenue stream is the money they get from Spike TV.
Natually, Spike TV would not want to sign a deal with a company that is in danger of going out of business. There have been other companies that have made pitches to Spike TV. Global Force Wrestling is not one of those companies though since Jeff Jarrett’s exit deal from TNA included a clause that he could not pitch projects to Spike.
