Lola Vice left tonight’s AAA still the NXT Women’s Champion, retaining the title against La Hiedra in the main event. The match marked the first time the NXT Women’s Championship has been defended in AAA. Vice ended it with a spinning back fist.
The finish did not settle anything. Las Toxicas flooded the ring after the bell, with Maravilla and La Flamer backing La Hiedra and beating down both Vice and La Catalina, who had come out to even the odds for the champion. The numbers game broke up only when Lady Shawnee returned after a long absence, charging in to clear Las Toxicas from ringside. On commentary, the issues between Vice, La Catalina, Lady Shawnee, and Las Toxicas were described as far from settled.
There is little time to recover. Vice defends the NXT Women’s Championship again tomorrow at the NXT Great American Bash against Kendal Grey.
AAA General Manager Rey Mysterio addressed the ongoing crossover between AAA and WWE’s NXT brand from the broadcast booth.
“We’re just trying to mix things up, and we’re doing a great job making this happen,” Mysterio said. “So I’m just happy, because the fans are the ones that get excited and see this combination come through.”
Mysterio also teased a future meeting between the Aztec Giant Galeno and the Nigerian Colossus Omos. “I think we’re going to have to make that happen eventually,” he said.
That tease followed Galeno’s win over Mecha Wolf earlier in the night. Galeno wrestled much of the match with an injured arm, at one point using Mecha Wolf’s own momentum to muscle him up for a one-handed power bomb. Omos loomed at the entrance throughout, keeping the tension between the two giants going.
The show opened with an emotional promo from Psycho Clown, who called out Pagano over an alleged betrayal.
“I am tired. I’m tired to come here every week and fake and pretend that everything is all right when my life is just crumbling down piece by piece,” Psycho Clown said. “I lost my brothers, I lost my tag team titles of AAA, and while all of that was happening in the middle of this ring, I almost lost my life thanks to the beating that I took. The only person that I trusted, he turned his back on me. He left me lying. Today, this ends today.”
Pagano never came out. The reunited Psycho Circus then left to look for him. On commentary, it was noted that there was no proof Pagano was behind the attacks, framing the accusation as an open question heading into the coming weeks.
