AEW Dynamite airs tonight from the Masonic Temple Theater in Detroit, Michigan, with four championships on the line in the first show since AEW Redemption.
Willow Nightingale is the new AEW Women’s World Champion after beating Thekla in Montreal on Sunday, and a celebration is scheduled for tonight. The win makes her AEW’s third triple crown champion, after Kenny Omega and “Hangman” Adam Page, and the first woman to hold that distinction, having previously held the AEW Women’s World Tag Team Championship and the TBS Championship twice. She faces Women’s Owen Hart Cup winner Mercedes Moné at All In on August 30 at Wembley Stadium. Nightingale leads their singles series 2-1.
Two of the titles that changed hands at Redemption are being defended days later, in matches AEW president Tony Khan announced overnight. Maya World defends the TBS Championship against CMLL Women’s Champion Persephone after taking the title from Hikaru Shida. Andrade El Idolo defends the AEW National Championship against Jack Perry and Nick Wayne in a triple threat, having won it from Mark Davis on Sunday.
The Conglomeration also defend the AEW World Trios Championship against The Demand. Orange Cassidy, Kyle O’Reilly and Roderick Strong retained on the Redemption Zero Hour pre-show while Ricochet, Toa Liona and Bishop Kaun were on commentary.
Kenny Omega is scheduled to speak after retaining the AEW Men’s World Championship against Kevin Knight in the Redemption main event. Omega defends against Will Ospreay at All In.
Renee Paquette conducts a sit-down interview with Adam Copeland and Christian Cage alongside The Young Bucks. The two teams meet for the AEW Men’s World Tag Team Championship at All In, in what will be their first match against each other. Copeland and Cage retained against Claudio Castagnoli and PAC at Redemption, and The Young Bucks beat Jon Moxley and Will Ospreay on the same show.
Rhino is also expected to appear at some point across AEW’s two nights in Detroit, according to PWInsider. AEW has not announced him, nor has his role or the night been specified.
