Nick Jackson was tested for a concussion after AEW Redemption and passed, but he says he has been dealing with the effects of a head injury since last month.
Jackson and his brother Matt beat Jon Moxley and Will Ospreay on Sunday’s pay-per-view from the Bell Centre in Montreal. Nick was absent from the ring for a stretch early in the match, leaving Matt to work alone, and the commentary team built the absence into the story of the match. He returned later and the pair won.
Speaking on the latest edition of Being The Elite, Jackson said he was hurt during the match and went for testing immediately afterwards.
“I went to the trainer’s room, of course. I had to take multiple concussion tests and I passed, so that’s good. They said I definitely had my bell rung, but I had a lot of dizziness.”
He said the symptoms were familiar because of an injury he suffered at Forbidden Door last month.
“The last pay-per-view, I landed right on my head. Landed right on my head, and that was not a concussion or anything. It was considered a whiplash injury. Ever since then, though, I’ve had these weird effects where I feel kind of like foggy because of the neck. I didn’t have any vision issues or any of that, but today, it felt very similar to what I was experiencing last month.”
Jackson said he had improved by the time he spoke, and pointed to two things he believes contributed.
“Now I feel a lot better. The doctor said that I’m probably not healing fast enough because I’m not having enough carbs, which is true. And I definitely felt dehydrated today, so I think I’m partially to blame for that.”
The Young Bucks face Adam Copeland and Christian Cage for the AEW Men’s World Tag Team Championship at All In on August 30 at Wembley Stadium in London. Copeland and Cage retained against Claudio Castagnoli and PAC at Redemption to set the match. Also announced for All In are Kenny Omega defending the AEW Men’s World Championship against Will Ospreay, and Willow Nightingale defending the AEW Women’s World Championship against Mercedes Moné.
