AEW Dynamite Spring Break takes place tonight from the Angel of the Wind Arena in Everett, Washington, and the card is headlined by a first-time AEW World Championship match between MJF and Darby Allin.
Allin earned his shot by defeating Andrade El Idolo in a standout number one contender’s match at AEW Dynasty on Sunday and immediately made clear he planned to cash in the opportunity in the Pacific Northwest, close to his hometown of Seattle. MJF retained the AEW World Championship in the Dynasty main event, defeating Kenny Omega in what lived up to its billing as one of the most anticipated AEW title matches in recent memory.
The two have a shared history dating back to AEW’s founding in 2019, having first met one-on-one at AEW Full Gear 2021 with MJF emerging as the winner. In recent weeks, MJF had entered into an arrangement with The Don Callis Family specifically to keep Allin out of the title picture, but those efforts ultimately failed when Andrade lost at Dynasty.
Kevin Knight also makes his first TNT Championship defense tonight after winning the title at Dynasty by winning the Casino Gauntlet for the vacant belt. He faces Claudio Castagnoli, whom he pinned during the Gauntlet match itself. Knight’s JetSpeed partner Mike Bailey also competed in the Gauntlet and had a complicated reaction to coming up short.
Kamille continues her return tonight as well, challenging TBS Champion Willow Nightingale after attacking her backstage at Dynasty Zero Hour. Nightingale has confirmed she will be cleared to compete and defend the title despite the ambush.
