AEW Is Heavily Interested In Former WWE Star

Former WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion Isla Dawn is expected to join All Elite Wrestling in the near future. According to a new report, AEW has heavy interest in the recently released talent, and she has already been present backstage at a recent television taping for the promotion.

Dawn, who is 31 years old, was released from her WWE contract in February of this year. During her seven-year tenure with the company, she held both the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship and the main roster WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship alongside her partner, Alba Fyre, as part of The Unholy Union.

The report, which comes from WrestleVotes, indicates that a deal is imminent. “We have learned through sources that AEW is heavily interested in recently released talent, Isla Dawn,” the report said. “So much so, according to one source, she was recently backstage at an AEW taping… the expectation is that she will begin working AEW shows in the very near future.”

The move would provide a fresh start for Dawn, who many WWE fans felt was let go prematurely. Her unique, witch-like gimmick and solid in-ring skills made her a standout in NXT UK and later on the main roster. In AEW, she would have the opportunity to reinvent herself and work with a new set of opponents in a women’s division that is always looking to add depth.

Dawn is the latest in a line of former WWE talents to find new opportunities in AEW. Wrestlers like Toni Storm, Ruby Soho, and Saraya have all made a name for themselves in the company after their time in WWE ended, with Storm currently reigning as the AEW Women’s World Champion.
