AEW’s Eddie Kingston Is Believed To Have Suffered A Broken Leg In NJPW Resurgence Match

Eddie Kingston recently suffered an injury ahead of AEW Double or Nothing, causing AEW to change its plans for him at the event.

The fan-favorite lost the NJPW Strong Openweight Title to Gabe Kidd in a no-rope last-man-standing match last Saturday night at the NJPW Resurgence event before Jack Perry came out to have a staredown with Kingston, leading The Young Bucks to attack him from behind and laying him out with the EVP trigger.

During the bout, Kingston hurt his leg when Kingston’s leg hit the barricade while taking a suplex off the apron. Kingston was originally slated to team up with FTR and Bryan Danielson to take on The Elite in an Anarchy in the Arena match at Double or Nothing later this month. Despite being recently hit by a bus and recovering from his own injury of a broken nose, Darby Allin has replaced Kingston in the bout.

In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that Kingston suffered what was believed to have been a broken leg.

According to NHS.UK, most people will heal from the injury in 6–8 weeks if it is minor, but depending on the severity, it could take up to 3–6 months, if not longer, to return should it be a lower leg fracture. A higher leg fracture could result in being on the shelf for six months to a year year.

We wish him a speedy recovery.
