Backstage News On Jack Perry’s Relationship With Tony Khan After AEW All In Incident

Fans will have to wait longer to see Jack Perry back in AEW after not being seen on AEW television for months following the incident with CM Punk at AEW All In last August.

Incident

The incident resulted in Perry’s suspension and Punk’s release. Perry has since started working with NJPW but remains under contract with AEW. The incident with Punk occurred after Punk advised Perry against using real glass for a segment on TV.

At All In, during his match, Perry made a spot on the windshield of a car and made a reference to glass to the camera, saying, “Real glass, cry me a river,” leading to the physical altercation.

Word broke this week that AEW President Tony Khan is still upset with Perry because he feels like Perry cost him Punk.

In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that they heard Perry was sent home after Wembley and never heard back from Khan. He later apologized via text messages and noted he never meant to cause any trouble and was sorry.

Meltzer wrote, “He did hear from the company through lawyers. Then they talked and he apologized to Khan. But he still hasn’t been brought back. What they are doing now in Japan is a storyline to lead to an eventual return.”

Perry was most part of the New Japan Cup Tournament that recently wrapped up. Perry will be in action against a top AEW star at a NJPW show next month
