Darby Allin’s AEW World Championship reign has won over previously skeptical voices inside the company, with Fightful Select reporting that multiple sources who had initially doubted the booking now applaud Allin’s efforts to make the run special.
Per Fightful’s report, the original April reporting on plans for Allin’s title reign was met with internal skepticism within AEW at the time. Fightful followed up with some of those doubters after the reign and found that several had changed their minds, telling the outlet they applauded Allin for going the extra mile to make the championship reign special. The in-ring work during the broader feud drew positive reactions across the AEW locker room.
Fightful also reported on MJF’s behind-the-scenes position around the Allin title reign. Sources Fightful spoke to believe that MJF had been supportive of Darby Allin’s title reign for quite a while.
Allin’s title reign began with his April 15 Dynamite win over MJF and ended at Double or Nothing 2026 on May 24, when MJF won the championship back in a Title vs. Hair match. The reign lasted just over one month, with Tony Khan separately calling it “one of the greatest World title reigns” in AEW history during the post-Double or Nothing media scrum despite its relatively short length.
