Chris Jericho spoke to Busted Open Radio today about All Elite Wrestling.
In the clip posted on Twitter, Jericho talked about the work that needs to be done. The company is working on building their backstage infrastructure (ie talent relations, booking agents, directors, cameramen, etc.)
He said that he wouldn’t have signed if there wasn’t a strong TV deal on the table. He said, “There’s a couple that I know of that are on the table and both of them are like wow.”
Bully Ray asked, “if one of those networks are announced for AEW programming, fans all over the world and wrestlers all over the world and the entire wrestling business is gonna say, holy sh*t they’re the real deal?”
Jericho agreed with that. He also pointed out that signing with AEW gives them a big name that everyone knows.
“Nothing is set in stone [but] the three that I know of are all ones that people [will say] ok this is the real deal.”
There is definitely smoke to this. During the AEW rally, Jericho said it was the best contract he’s ever signed. He was in talks with WWE as late as last week before he decided on joining AEW so that tells you how confident everyone is about this promotion getting off the ground.
