Chris Jericho Details Plans for Cinematic Match With Mike Tyson in AEW

Chris Jericho and Mike Tyson nearly shared the ring for a match in 2020, although plans fell through.

In 2020, Tyson made an appearance at Double or Nothing to present the TNT Title. On an episode of Dynamite after the show, Tyson was involved in a brawl alongside some of his friends with Jericho and the Inner Circle.

At the time, there had been some speculation about a match between the boxing great and Jericho, but it never happened. Jericho later aligned the following April, where Tyson helped Jericho even against The Pinnacle, leading to Tyson becoming an honorary member of The Inner Circle.

While appearing on AEW-some podcast, Jericho revealed they were planning to do a cinematic match in 2020.

“Mike Tyson and I almost had a cinematic match. We were this close to doing it, Tyson vs. Jericho in a New York Street Fight, but we couldn’t make it happen. We really were deep in negotiations too. We were going to do it in New York in an alley, like an alley fight, basically. Think ‘They Live’ with Tyson and Jericho. That’s what I had in mind.”

On tonight’s episode of Dynamite, Jericho will decide whether he will join the Don Callis Family.
