Chris Jericho: Jay White was on a silver platter for WWE and he chose AEW instead

Chris Jericho has given his take on AEW signing Jay White, who had been a top star for NJPW before he finished up with the promotion earlier this year.

White returned to AEW on last week’s Dynamite when he and Juice Robinson attacked Ricky Starks, officially kicking off his run with the promotion after signing with All Elite Wrestling.

Before he signed with AEW, he was deciding whether to do that or go to WWE, where they had a lot of interest in him. Many people believed that White was WWE-bound at one point.

While speaking on the Battleground podcast, Jericho was discussing the momentum of AEW after launching just four years ago and recalled how he wanted to make history with AEW President Tony Khan.

“That’s why Jay White, what a great example of us still having momentum. Hottest free agent in the world. Silver platter for WWE. I mean, the guy is 6’4”. He’s international, he has the accent, which chicks love,” Jericho stated. “He’s a great worker, great heel, great babyface, and he chose AEW. If that doesn’t tell you that something is going on with us, I don’t know what will. Just to continue to build that momentum is a very exciting prospect for me.”

Jericho will wrestle Keith Lee on tonight’s AEW Dynamite. Click below for the entire interview:
