Chris Jericho has worked with plenty of young wrestlers over a career spanning more than three decades, and he says Kyle Fletcher stands out from the pack.
Speaking with Fanboy Nation, Jericho said Fletcher’s potential becomes clear the moment you share a ring with him.
“You work with him and you see him and you go, ‘There’s something about this guy that’s gonna take him to the next level,'” Jericho said. “And it’s pretty obvious, but still. There’s other guys that you would think are obvious that don’t have it.”
Fletcher, a member of the Don Callis Family, is currently the AEW International Champion. He won the title from Konosuke Takeshita at Beach Break on July 8, and the reign follows a stretch on the shelf that cost him the TNT Championship, which he vacated in April due to injury before returning ahead of schedule.
Jericho returned to AEW himself in April after nearly a year away from television, appearing on the April 1 episode of Dynamite in his hometown of Winnipeg and adopting the shortened Jericho name. Tony Khan confirmed at the time that Jericho had signed a new multi-year deal with the company. He faced Tommaso Ciampa in the opening match of the same Beach Break show where Fletcher won the International Championship.
